Mark Oliver
Owner
Mark Oliver, Co-Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Shield Security, brings over 20 years of law enforcement experience, including 18 years in executive protection for local, state, and federal officials. A former Detroit Police Sergeant, he led executive protection for the Chief of Police and worked in violent crime, city council security, and recruitment. Mark holds a Bachelor’s in Social and Criminal Justice and a Business Management certificate. He has trained extensively in dignitary protection, counterterrorism, and crisis response. His expertise includes securing high-profile events like the Super Bowl and protecting celebrities, executives, and political figures.
Grant Burns
Co-Owner
Grant Burns, co-CEO and co-founder of Shield Security, has a distinguished background in law enforcement and executive protection. A former Georgia Department of Corrections officer, he graduated with honors before serving in Detroit Police Special Operations and Executive Protection. He earned Officer of the Year and the Spirit of Detroit Award for his service. A 2023 Hour Magazine’s D Business 30 in Their 30s honoree, Grant holds degrees from the University of North Georgia and Oakland University, specializing in homeland security. He further studied law enforcement administration at the University of Georgia, bringing elite expertise and leadership to Shield Security.
Evan Humes
Operations
Evan Humes, a Wayne State University graduate with a BA in Urban Studies & Planning, has a deep understanding of community dynamics and urban safety. As a former Detroit Police Officer of 5+ years, he served in the Gang Intel Unit and Special Response Team, refining his strategic security expertise. Since joining Shield Security in 2022, he has been instrumental in nationwide expansion, integrating cutting-edge technology with proven security methods. Guided by a commitment to integrity, precision, and proactive safety, Evan ensures Shield Security remains at the forefront of protecting people and assets with innovation and expertise.
